Is MoneyCroc Legitimate?

There is the website called moneycroc.com and they claim you can earn 50$ by playing their game. They advertise it as free money; however, you do need to spend time, and for some people this has meant even months of trying. Of course, they have probably made a large return through all the advertisement, so probably giving out 50$ is not such a big deal for them.

Moneycroc began over two years ago, and currently it ranks fairly well on the web. A couple of Google searches and one can find numerous positive reviews and many people claiming to have won the 50$ prize. Moreover, services such as Google SafeBrowsing and ThreatLog have not blacklisted this site. Therefore, it should be safe to visit and free of any trojans or malware. Nevertheless, in terms of reliability they do not get a high score from me.

Let me make an appeal to your reasoning and analyse how they make money and what incentives do they have for giving out prizes. The only way for them to earn an income is through advertisement, this is because they do not have any registrations or fees or anything like that. You just play the game in order to win the cash prizes, and as you play the game the page gets refreshed; thus, making some money for the website. There is a maximum of 50 tries per day, so if you played the game 50 times you probably helped them earn around 30$ - 50$  (assuming they get 50 cents - 1$ per click). Therefore, making it very unlikely that they have high incentives for people to win. Their main incentive is for people to play, not to win, besides if people started winning more prizes the whole thing would become unsustainable, or at the very least, not very profitable. This can be substantiated by the some of the negative reviews moneycroc has received, and some people have pointed out that it took them months to win, and even if they won they did not receive a prize.

One such case can be found on Webutations.org, where there is an interesting comment made by an user named TimS15. He claims that "I had been doing it for a few months and not won anything which is no big deal in itself but when another Facebook user posted on their Facebook page asking how many tries it took some guyto win I replied saying I had been doing it for months with no luck, moneycroc then deleted my comment and banned me from posting on their Facebook page, why would they do that if they had nothing to hide? seems a very sinister thing to do over an innocent comment on a Facebook page! the whole Facebook page looks very scripted with only good comments and reviews allowed so please beware of this site."

 It is not surprising that he mentions not winning for many months. As we expected it probably takes quite some time to win a prize. Moreover, he pointed out something very interesting about the way they monitor their Facebook page. This is not something new, in the past many have censored controvert comments or bad remarks about a company or services in order to hide any form of negative publicity. Furthermore, using Facebook one can easily approve or delete comments, making it even easier for them to only leave the good reviews.  

Overall, I would not recommend this service as it is unlike that you will win. Also, you can try to leave a bad comment on the Facebook page to see if they delete it.
